Five Italian players have been accused of match-fixing regarding matches between Atalanta and Livorno last season...
Livorno were eventually relegated and the charges, concerning both fixtures, fall on brothers Emanuele and Antonio Filippini and also Alessandro Grandoni for failing to notify authorities of the events. The actual match-fixing charges have come down on two Atalanta players, Gian Paolo Bellini and David Balleri, who once captained Livorno.
The sides drew 1-1 on December 23, and Atalanta won the late-season fixture on May 4 3-2.
Both clubs were reported to the national disciplinary commission over the behaviour of their players, but the far more serious allegations are now coming to the fore.
This follows the infamous 2006 Calciopoli scandal that saw Lazio, Fiorentina, Milan and Juventus all docked points, with the latter even relegated.
